What Lies Ahead

Today (Friday) I have spent much of the day pondering and reflecting about life. One of my most favorite quotes hangs on my parents fridge where you can see it everyday. It says: "Life can only be understood backwards, but must be lived forward". We may not always know why something happens when it happens, but as time passes, we can begin to understand. With this trial, Jordon and I have been extremely blessed. We have been blessed with caring friends, family, neighbors, and coworkers. We have been blessed with wonderful doctors. And we have been blessed with peace. Daily, we thank the Lord for those of you who head the promptings of the spirit and become instruments in his hands. Thank you for being an answer to prayers, whether they be a phone call, a note of encouragement, a quick e-mail, or other acts of love. Thank you.

Today Jordon and I met with the oncologists again. It was an adventure trying to find our way through the maze of walkways, tunnels, and various hospitals that combine to make the university medical center. Just when you begin to learn the layout of one area, you begin treatment in another. :o) Oh well, life is meant for learning (although after this is over, I am pretty sure Jordon and I can start giving guided tours because we have to every corner of the hosptial and back again).

Jordon was fitted for his radiation mask. They have to completely mold his body so they can position him exactly the same every time. If you have ever seen Man in the Iron Mask, Jordon kind of looks like that, only the mask is white mesh and the back attatches firmly to a large table.


Jordon will officially begin the radiation treatments on the 11. He will have 33 treatments combined. At the same time he will also undergo chemotherpay. He will take a pill form called Temodar. During the next six and half weeks, we have to be very careful to make sure Jordon does not get sick at all. He will have to have weekly labs done to check white cell count and blood platelet levels. We will also probably not be going on a lot of outings or visiting a lot of family. Not fun.

We also have to watch what he eats to make sure he is eating healthy, but we have to try and cut his anti-oxident levels way way down, otherwise it will counterbalance the chemo and effectiveness of the radiation. At least, that is what we learned in our chemotherapy mini class today (it was right after radiation but before they had to draw 10 vials of blood. VAMPIRES).

Life will get intersting during the next few months, but as I always say, with the Lord's hands, we will get through this. Thank you again for the love support and prayers!!!! Much love to you all.
